Jason Wimberly | Personal Trainer | Model
Jason Wimberly is a born-and-raised California boy. His background in fitness originated at home in a small farming town in the Central Valley. Because his father was a competitive bodybuilder, the whole family (including his beauty queen mother!) ate clean and kept a super-healthy diet. Sports were a big part of his life, and because he grew up in the country, days were spent outside doing everything from playing soccer to horseback riding. Jason became a nationally competitive cheerleader in high school, taking dance classes on the side. After he found his niche, he said goodbye to the country and left for Idyllwild Arts Academy, an exclusive boarding school for the arts. By the time he graduated high school, he was dancing professionally with ballet companies in San Francisco and San Diego. After his first director told him it was "essential that we teach, because so much of what we learn in life will never be found in a book," Jason knew that he was destined to do just that. He then moved to New York and fell in love with spin, realizing he wanted to work in group fitness.
Currently, Jason teaches upwards of 10 classes a week in addition to training private clients. He has taught spin at various studios nationwide and currently also teaches "Long & Lean," a ballet/pilates fusion class in addition to "Chisel'd," a more cardio-based sculpting class. WIMBERLEAN, the unique class he started combining his years of training and teaching has also been taught all over the US, and was even a Top Ten Finalist on Season Two of "Fit or Flop." He believes that a long, lean, flexible body is the key to the fountain of youth and a healthy life.
In addition to his career in fitness, Jason is the Director of Operations for Clover Juice, and spends afternoons overseeing operations in his 4 stores. He manages to juggle various hosting events and produces his own monthly nightlife soiree, LYST. He was a host on MTV's "MADE" and was even named 2011's "Queer of the Year" after competing on an international reality show in Montreal. Throw in modeling, some magazine and book covers, a runway show every so often, and a blog, and you've got what Jason does in his so-called "free time."
Jason urges his students to be exactly who they are. Growing up, he was the only boy on the dance team performing at pep rallies, but he did it because he loved it and refused to listen to the negative. He is aware that the pressure to look or dress a certain way can be tough, but he believes that the only way to be truly fab is to do exactly what makes you happy each and every day.
PRE WORKOUT RITUAL:
I just have to eat something! I always need proper time to eat and digest before any big workout. Slow digesting carbs and a little sugar like oatmeal and fruit can go a long way.
Red wine and anything sweet!
Structured, futuristic, and precise. When I sweat, I love spandex anything and racer-back tanks.
IN MY PAST LIFE:
I was a showgirl.
