It’s a totally true statement to say that group fitness changed Ashley Pitt’s life. In fact, Ashley got her start in the fitness industry years ago when one of her favorite instructors pulled her onto the stage while taking a class to help demonstrate some moves. It was the start of something beautiful, and today, Ashley is both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, who also writes the popular healthy-living blog, A Lady Goes West, which she started after relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area from Central Florida. After spending many years in the corporate-communications world working for major brands like Disney and Starwood hotels behind a desk and teaching group fitness on the side, Ashley took the leap of faith to pursue fitness full time two years ago and has not looked back.
A graduate of The University of Florida with a degree in public relations, Ashley bridges her experience in the communications industry with her love of fitness, both by teaching classes, connecting with others, and sharing her knowledge and fitness tips on her blog. She is incredibly passionate about the power of group fitness and how the music, energy and commitment of others can help people push themselves harder during their workouts, stick with a regular workout schedule and become part of a community.
Ashley is one of the trainers on the founding team of a brand new Orangetheory Fitness in Walnut Creek, and she also teaches several Les Mills style classes a week at 24 Hour Fitness locations around the East Bay. She is a certified personal trainer through NESTA, a Kettlebell Athletics trainer and a certified instructor of Les Mills BODYATTACK, BODYPUMP and CXWORX programs.
In addition to teaching classes, Ashley stays fit by hitting the gym a few times a week and getting outside to explore the Bay Area with her husband. She’s also a foodie and loves to try new restaurants, making sure she maintains an 80/20 lifestyle.
Ashley’s blog has been named one of the “Top 20 Blogs based in the San Francisco Bay Area” by TripAdvisor’s FlipKey. She’s also part of several influential networks, including POPSUGAR Select Fitness, FitFluential Ambassadors, SweatPink Ambassadors, IDEA Inspired Bloggers, and BlogHer Publishing.

Hitting the foam roller, filling up my water bottle and eating some trail mix.
